![]() ![]() You can buy adjustable new style rods from MAC1 and adjusted to maximize efficiency is very important to get the most out of your pumps. I did it once when I rehabilitated my pump, and I was pretty conservative so that I don't have to do it again any time soon: it is truly a pain.Īctually, odds are good that with the age of your gun you'll need a new pump cup, link rivet and maybe a new pump arm or pivot pin anyway, so you can adjust your piston when you rehab the pump!Īlot of those old sheridans that should have come with adjustable piston rods are missing those ,swiped out for the newer ones maybe because the cups were hard to find as you had to replace the whole head with the old design. Not to mention that it's a pain to drive out the pivot, pull the piston, adjust it, put it back together, test it, pull it apart again to readjust, put it together, test, etc. Make it any longer and the gun doesn't get that much more powerful, plus the extra strain on the pivot and rivet will ovalize the pivot hole in the pump arm or wear the link rivet in half - and then you have to shell out for new parts. The adjustable piston is useful to increase efficiency, but you only adjust it so it is the right length and the cup has no headspace against the valve. It's a standard steroid upgrade from Mac1 airguns on all later models, so there are quite a few bens and dans with adjustable pistons floating around. I wouldn't say no one adjusts the piston. ![]()
